Waverley Lane - IT for Business

Client 352

Operating in the private sector, this firm of archaeologists have nearly 30 staff in Edinburgh together with offices in Glasgow and Cork.

The reports produced for their clients are very graphics-intensive in order to put across the sometimes complex findings of a site investigation. This emphasis on graphic design together with the need for long-term archiving of large data files means that network data storage is a prime requirement.

Waverley Lane started work for this client by replacing an existing unreliable server with new hardware running Microsoft Small Business Server 2003. This provides the facility to share diaries and company contact details across the various locations, and gives staff access to email while working out of the office on archaeological investigations.

As part of a rolling programme of service enhancements Waverley Lane will shortly (January 2006) be installing a second server, to give staff access to the company project management system from the branch offices and from site.
